Once I received the theme and raw data, I conducted additional research on Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) and its environmental links, including pollution and climate change. I analyzed the provided information, divided it into sections such as reasons, consequences, and solutions, and matched each with a suitable chart type to clarify the message. Initially, I planned to design the infographic inside the shape of a bee’s body, but it proved ineffective in terms of clarity and readability. I then pivoted to a hexagon-based layout, inspired by the structure of beehives. For the color palette, I selected rich yellow as the dominant tone to represent bees and honey, with brown and black as supporting colors to reflect nature and urgency. In week 1, I sketched the layout and began designing original icons, symbols, and chart visuals to support the narrative flow.

In week 2, I completed a hexagon-based layout but felt it lacked impact. I returned to my original concept—using a bee’s body. After sketching, I found abstract shapes better suited to organize content, so I developed stylized forms for the bee and surrounding flowers.

In week 3, I applied the revised content to the abstract bee layout and found it functioned effectively. After several rounds of feedback from the professor, I refined the design with detailed adjustments, enhancing clarity, alignment, and visual hierarchy to achieve a polished final result.

In week 4, I finalized two layout options, printed both in full color and black & white for contrast testing, and mounted them on board for submission. Through this process, I gained deeper insight into infographic design—balancing graphics, data, and visual flow. I learned the importance of constructing clear reading paths and mastering content hierarchy. This assignment strengthened my appreciation for infographics, and I look forward to exploring more projects to refine my skills further.
