Create a motion graphics piece using After Effects’ 3D layers to explore depth, perspective, and motion, demonstrating control of camera movement, layer placement, and transitions for a dynamic result.

For my 1st step, I selected “Jungle” as the theme to create an immersive wild atmosphere. I built a mood board by sourcing relevant images such as tropical plants, birds, forest light, and dense greenery. I chose a high-contrast colour scheme: cyan-green versus sharp red to emphasize depth and highlight key visual elements across different image layers.
For the 2nd step, I created 6 layers of jungle silhouettes to represent different depths in the scene. Each layer was drawn to reinforce perspective from foreground to background. I also traced a bird’s flying motion frame-by-frame from photo references and built a looping flying animation to use as a dynamic foreground element.
For the 3rd step, I sketched a storyboard to plan the overall camera movement and bird placements. This helped me visualize how the camera would push forward through the layered jungle, and how the animated birds would fly across the scene. I also mapped out how the “Jungle” tagline would appear and interact with the motion and environment.
Final step, I brought all the assets into After Effects and started animating the full composition. I carefully adjusted each 3D layer to match the camera movement and create natural depth. I added motion blur to the flying birds for realism, and the hardest part was syncing the moving sunlight with the forward camera motion to maintain visual harmony.
